Bang Bang Restaurant and Patio:
Many design constraints here: the primary one being the space is tiny! We needed to redefine the different use areas of the space to include a dining room, bar with service area and seating—38 seats total—as well as host/arrival area—all within about 750 square feet. We also needed a service area, storage and above all, for it to look upscale enough to serve the concept’s medium to high price point.
The other constraint was cost. We completed this flip on a very shoestring budget: we utilized materials which were cheap and common, and dressed them up to get this dining room to look the part.
The third constraint was time: we had a turnaround time of 10 weeks.
Later on during Covid: we were tasked with transforming the side parking lot into an outdoor dining area. We designed and built 11 modular plant boxes from cedar, re-tarred the parking lot, and added custom benches made from common lumber.
