Upcoming kitchen remodel in SE Portland. Current kitchen is cramped and offers little in the way of counter-space, lighting, and utility.
Expanding the footprint of the kitchen is not an option, so we are going to be opening it up to incorporate—or borrow—some visual space from the neighboring dining room.
We’ll be removing the soffits and narrow doorway to lend a more airy feel, and updating the cabinets and shelving. We’ll also be relocating the fridge from it’s current place in the middle, to the periphery, and putting a peninsula—complete with stools—in it’s place to center things.
The counters will jump from their current 20” depth to 24”, and we’ll install pendant and task lighting, and add some outlets for greater ease while cooking. The counters will be walnut butcherblock, and will carry through to the dining room, creating a buffet—and housing the hifi.
